There's always heaps going on in the life of our Church. Here's a snap shot of what's coming up. We'd love to see you some time!
Gateway City Church exists not just to build a church, but to CHANGE a city. The Church is to love God, love People and love Life. The church is filled with different types of people, both young and old, who have discovered life and are attempting to live it to the ‘full’ through Jesus. Many grow up believing God to be dreary, depressed or weak. Rather He is vibrant, joyful and powerful. His presence is real and exciting and can be enjoyed by anyone.
“THERE IS HOPE”
“We are not just building a Church but CHANGING a city”
“Our faith can move mountains”
“We will never hear God’s voice above all others if we’re tuned into the frequencies of fear”
Our Services are filled with God's presence. They are alive and attempt to be real about our journey with God. There are no ‘superheroes’ within our church only normal people learning how to be devoted followers of Christ. Jesus said that He came to earth that we might have a life of abundance (John 10:10). We believe that Church is a time of Celebration and not religious activities. We stand united in our vision to Equip and Empower the church to go into their world and change the culture for the Kingdom of God.
Gateway Church run many ministries throughout the church, community and globally. Below you will find a brief overview. Please follow the links for more detailed information and find out how you can get involved at Gateway.

We are all called to engage our world by “shining our light for Jesus” wherever we are. Being involved with Gateway Community is a purposeful, planned and effective way to engage your world. Jesus is passionate about “drawing all people to Himself” and we are called to do likewise. We believe that God will bless you as you engage your world through committing to be part of Gateway Community and “together we can make a difference” Gateway missions is active in the local, National and international realms.
It is so important that we are as passionate locally as we are in reaching beyond our city. The Illawarra is an amazing place with such diverse cultures and beautiful scenery. Our heart is for all generations and demonstrating God’s love in practical ways. From feeding Children breakfast to building relationship with the thousands of students at the University campus, we extend beyond the four walls of the Church.
We have a number of local projects that we are committed to and see hundreds of people touched by Gods love weekly.
INNER CITY MEALS PROGRAM provides free meals every Tuesday night to a community of people at West Wollongong. This ministry has been running successfully for over 6 years.
At Transformations the residents are highly involved in working with each other, on each other, and taking responsibility for charting their own progress. We aim to support the resident while they address issues associated with their addiction whilst helping them to discover why their lives have become unmanageable. This is done with a holistic approach where we help them address their social, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Multiple cities and local churches across a nation combine the three aspects of Conference, Community and Concert to build the platform for a move of God. Conferences provide seminars to equip young adults and youth. Community based humanitarian work provide opportunities for young adults and youth to contribute to projects in their cities and witness the transforming grace of Jesus Christ at a practical level. Concerts incorporate state of the art technology with the raw unhindered presence of God, culminating in praise, worship, word and salvations.
Pastor Scott and Rachael have both grown up in the Illawarra area and met each other when they were both attending a local Baptist Church. Scott became a Christian when he was 17 and at the age of 19 commenced 2 years of study at Hillsong College. Upon finishing he was invited to be the Youth Pastor for this church. Scott has served as the National Youth Pastor for the Apostolic Church. He founded Youth Ablaze, a national youth movement, and initiated Liberty, one of the largest youth conferences in Australia.
Scott has also been involved in itinerant ministry and planted a church at Brighton-Le-Sands. He has preached extensively in Australia as well as overseas. He has conducted successful evangelistic meetings throughout Sth East Asia. In August 2001 Scott and Rachael were invited to be the Senior Pastors of the church. Scott has pioneered a number of large scale community initiatives in Wollongong including the hugely successful RISE UP, which saw over 5000 Christians from all walks of life gather to pray for the City of Wollongong. Scott and Rachael were married in 1992 and now have four boys, Caleb, Jared, Daniel and Noah.
Jim and Pat Primossich have been pastors for over twenty one years, the last nine with Gateway City Church, Wollongong. They have been married for 43 years and have two adult children.
Their heart’s desire is to build strong foundations in the body of Christ. To see every Christian equipped to fulfill their God given destiny. They believe in imparting only what they have first gained in victory for themselves. This enables them to move in a greater level of power and authority and impartation of God’s truth, love and freedom.
Jim and Pat have developed practical tools to teach the “how to’s” in many areas of ministry within the body of Christ. They have produced their own teaching material for several different discipleship building courses. They have also conducted over a hundred Encounter Retreats which they have presented in a variety of churches.
Darrin and Jodie have been actively involved in Gateway City church for over 10 years. They believe that being planted in a local church is vital to a healthy relationship with God and that worship is life. They are passionate about building the Kingdom and as an extension of that releasing a team that aspires to create an environment through the creative arts where people can encounter God.
Darrin and Jodie have been involved in various areas of ministry including Youth Leadership, Creative Leadership, Scripture and Chaplaincy in Schools. As part of this next season of creative leadership they believe that God has planted them to train, impart and release the next generation of creative leaders. To stand firmly on the foundation of the Word and the Spirit and break through the limitations that may hinder us from moving as a team into all that God has for His people. They believe the Creative Team exists to give Glory to God and God alone.
Since marrying in 2010, Kim and Brett have had a collective desire to see young people live their best lives at every stage through the transforming love of Christ. With their experience in big business corporate sales and drafting backgrounds they understand the challenge of living out Christian faith whilst being relatable in today’s high pressure society.
This is what drives their passion to connect young people with Jesus to experience his love, whilst equipping them with understanding and wisdom through God’s word, enabling them to live a life of “faith in action” to reach others within their world.
Caleb has attended Gateway City Church for as long as he can remember, and has been an active part of the youth group since the age of ten. He attended a local high school in the Wollongong region, and has always had a passion to see Young People fulfill their destiny in Christ.
Caleb is of the belief that no matter how young or old a person is; they can still make a difference for God in their world. As the Senior Leader of ReFuse Youth, he believes that the next generation is called to rise up and spread the gospel to all corners of the earth, while discovering their true identity in God. It is his hope that through the work of Gateway’s youth program, young people will not only experience the power of God, but also be equipped to be ambassadors for Christ in their families, schools and friend groups.
Cathryn has been involved in children’s ministry for over twenty-five years. She has been a part of Gateway City Church for twenty years.
Cathryn’s passion is for children to discover all God has for them. Guiding children to grow in their potential to serve and love God for life. She encourages children to go into their world and shine for Jesus. She believes children should have fun and enjoy all that God has created and they are never too young to change their world.
Cathryn has been married to Anthony for twenty-one years and has two teenage boys Blake and Kye.
Ryan has loved God since his early teens and has been a fundamental part of Gateway City Church for the last ten years. He has served diligently in Youth ministry, the Worship Team and of course the Creative Department, newly branded in 2013: Creative Lab.
He is incredibly passionate about the House of God and brings a freshness through creativity and design. He has a unique gift in finding beauty in the simplest things and is able to utilise this gift in creating aesthetics which visually amplify the church’s culture and vision. He is also exceptionally passionate about seeing people released to their full potential and destiny in God whilst serving the House.
Ryan has a unique and individual flair. He sees what some deem trash as treasure, which is a great comparison of how we can see ourselves versus how God sees us. Ryan captures this in timeless design, taking pride in all he does, for the benefit of others, believing that God’s personality and character is expressed through many different mediums of creativity, captivating individuals in a unique and personal way.
